Story Time: Learning English through Storytelling

Sharing stories is one way for students share information about their experiences, backgrounds and cultures, but stories also provides a number of other benefits .

 
Stories introduce students to words in context, which helps them to understand unfamiliar words and increases their vocabulary. Stories help students to sharpen their skills of imagination and visualization . Stories help students to improve their listening skills by understanding meaning, drawing connections to other familiar material, and interpreting the information.

 

Stories help students to develop reading skills, and spark an interest in reading. Most importantly stories encourage students to find a story they want to share or make up their own story.
